The Annual Holocaust Education Week starts with the premier of the documentary
“Eva” at 7 p.m. on February 4th at The Turner Auditorium. The film is part of a series
of events, presented in partnership with Tallahassee Community College, features a diverse
selection of programs exploring issues and topics of the Holocaust.
The Holocaust Education Week is a unique program that honors, commemorates, and
explores the history of the Holocaust. Join us to learn more about this important event in
our shared humanity.
The film “Eva” is a moving story of Holocaust survivor Eva Mozes Kor. At age 10, she
survived experiments by Nazi Doctor Josef Mengele. At age 50, she helped launch what
was considered the biggest manhunt in history. Now at age 84, after decades of pain and
anger, she travels the world to promote what her life journey has taught: hope, healing and
humanity.
Ted Green, the film’s producer, director and writer for the film, said that following Kor
around the world for this film was “remarkably inspiring” and a “blessing”. Green hopes
that people are inspired by watching this film.
“I felt the power of Eva Mozes Kor’s story so strongly that I visited Auschwitz with her a
few months ago. It was and is a lesson in remembering that the evil that once happened
can do so again. It is up to each of us to be vigilant eternally.” Said David Lawrence Jr.,
retired Miami Herald publisher and now chair of The Children’s Movement of Florida.
The film includes Kor’s decision to forgive Nazis. Speaking at the film about forgiveness
will be Rabbi Jack Romberg.
Ted Green and David Lawrence Jr., are expected to speak on the film following the
upcoming screening on February 4, 2019. The post film discussion will be a really
engaging opportunity.
The program is free and open to the public. Tallahassee Jewish Federation is a sponsor of Holocaust Education Week.Social Media Info for week’s events
