“Rescue in the Philippines” is the previously unknown and untold story of how over 1300 Jews escaped the Nazis by immigrating to the Philippines. This rescue was orchestrated by Manuel Quezon, the charismatic first president of the Philippines, Paul McNutt, U.S. High Commissioner and former governor of Indiana (preparing for his own presidential campaign), an ambitious U.S. Army Colonel named Dwight Eisenhower – and the Frieder brothers, Cincinnati-based businessmen manufacturing 2-for-a-nickel cigars in pre-WWII Manila.
